His Virtues and Excellence:
- 1 of the 10 Promised Paradise
- Did not attend Badr but had an excuse (The Prophet ﷺ sent him to spy on the caravan and missed the battle) so he was like those who attended it
- Stayed by the Prophet ﷺ during the Battle of Uhud and got 24 wounds (some say 75 wounds)
- The Prophet ﷺ called him the following nicknames:
- Talhah al Khair (Talhah of Good) on the day of Uhud
- Talhah al Fayyad (Talhah the Openhanded) on the day of the Battle of Dhat al Ashira
- Talhah al Juwd (Talhah of Generosity) on the day of Hunayn
- Quran 33:23 is about Talhah
- Narrated Az-Zubair bin Al-‘Awwam: “On the Day of Uhud, the Prophet (ﷺ) wore two coats of mail. He tried to get up on a boulder but was not able to, so Talhah squatted under him, lifting the Prophet (ﷺ) upon it such that he could sit on the boulder. So he said: (Paradise) “It is obligated from Talhah.’” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1692)
- Narrated Qais bin Abi Hazim: I saw Talha’s paralyzed hand with which he had protected the Prophet (from an arrow) . (Sahih al-Bukhari 3724)
- Aishah RA said: When Abu Bakr talked about the day of Uhud, he used to say: ‘That day is entirely Talhah’s day.’
His Death:
- He was killed in the Battle of the Camel
- Thursday, 20th of Jumada al Akhirah, 36 H
- He was 60 (some say 62, others say 64)
- It is said that Marwan ibn al Hakam killed him
