“And He found you lost and guided you”

Gratitude is a feeling that humbles the soul, especially when reflecting on the moments when we were lost, drowning in confusion or sin, and The Most Merciful extended His mercy to guide us back. It’s a deep, overwhelming sense of appreciation, knowing that the One who created you never abandoned you, even when you strayed far from the path. He saw you struggling, called you back, and gave you the strength and willingness to respond that He might have taken away from others. How can a heart not overflow with gratitude for such a Lord?

Think back to those times when darkness clouded your heart, when you felt unworthy of forgiveness, and life seemed like an endless maze. Perhaps you thought there was no way out, yet Allah, Blessed and High is He, sent a reminder, a sign, or even a hardship that brought you closer to Him. In those moments, the heaviness began to lift, and the light of guidance broke through. It becomes clear that Allah’s mercy is far greater than our mistakes, and His guidance is always present, even when we choose to ignore it (we ask Allah to forgive us).

This realization fills us with gratitude so profound it cannot be expressed in words alone. It’s a gratitude that manifests in tears during sujood, in a heart that strives to obey, and in a tongue that constantly remembers Him. It reminds us that we are never alone, and that every moment of guidance is a gift from Allah. Gratitude transforms our lives, making us more patient in trials and more sincere in our worship. It’s a reminder that, no matter how far we’ve gone, Allah’s mercy is always within reach.

So we thank Him—not just for the guidance we received, but for the hardships that became the means of our return, and the countless blessings we often overlook. Gratitude becomes not just a feeling, but a state of being, as we recognize that everything we have, and everything we are, is from Allah alone.

Alhamdulillah.
